enLIGHTen Workshop #2!

Great news! LKP's first "enLIGHTen" photography workshop was a hit! We had so much fun discussing photography, techniques, and manual settings that we want to do it AGAIN! Date to be announced.

So here is the 411. Workshops are held in my home from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. When you sign up, I will have you fill out a Questionnaire which will let me know what you are hoping to learn. I work hard to make that happen so you can get the most out of our workshop.

What is an "enLIGHTen workshop"? It's a 4-hour hands-on photography training (including my personal techniques). If you own a DSLR but have questions on how to use it, this workshop is calling to you.

What will be covered?
- understanding your camera & settings
- all about flash, exposure, aperture, shutter speed, & depth of field
- different lighting styles
- posing subjects
- importance of choosing your lens
- time at the end for a Q&A
- real experience taking and receiving photographs at the end of our workshop
- a photography manual to take home that will include everything we cover

Cost? $60 per person

What do I need to bring? Your camera gear, a pen, a water bottle, and a mind ready to learn!

How do I pay? Check or cash in the mail or in person.

Is food provided? Yep! My love language is FOOD, therefore delicious snacks and drinks will be present.

What if I don't know how to use my camera AT ALL? Perfect! Newbies are welcome!

MAHALO to my first students for being amazing receivers of knowledge and for striving to improve their photography skills on a daily basis. You make us proud!

Message me to ask questions or sign up!

Group enLIGHTen workshop!

So. You have your nice new camera. You have your adorable kids. But a mom + a camera does NOT a photographer make. Right?! What you need is a quick, fun workshop to boost your excitement and give you knowledge on how to make the leap from Auto to Awesome!

What is an "enLIGHTen workshop"? It's a 4-hour hands-on photography training (including my personal techniques) that will take place in my home in Kailua on October 15th from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.. If you own a DSLR but have questions on how to use it, this workshop is calling to you. I'll be teaching the basics of photography, including but not limited to:

- understanding your camera & settings
- shooting manually (yes, manually!) :)
- all about flash, exposure, aperture, shutter speed, & depth of field
- different lighting styles
- posing subjects + taking pictures of kids
- importance of choosing your lens
- time at the end for a Q&A

After we learn the 101 of photography, we're going to head out into Kailua and put our new knowledge to work by taking photographs of each other! You will go home with actual photographs of yourself, so don't come in your Jammies!

I have room for FIVE women, ages 12 to 112. (This is an awesome mother-daughter activity if you can get your hands on two DSLRs.) When you sign up, I will have you fill out a Questionnaire which will let me know what you are hoping to learn. I work hard to make that happen so you can get the most out of the "enLIGHTen" workshop.

Best of all, it will be FUN! Message me to ask questions or sign up!

A Family of Boys

So, I have a family of three boys... does that make me Queen Bee?

My handsome hubs just celebrated his 31st birthday *cough cough getting old cough* and for his birthday, an extra special present came in the mail for ME... my new 85 mm lens! To celebrate my new lens (oh yeah, and his birthday), I talked my boys into going outside in their PJ's so I could take a few test shots on them. For a photographer mama, few things are as exciting as a NEW LENS coupled with ADORABLE SUBJECTS!

...And a few days later, my sweet, old, handsome husband took this gem of me with my two Littles. He may become a Photographer yet!

Welcome to Our World, Baby Brave!

Meet our new addition... Brave Matthias Kainoa Keizer! Weighing in at almost 10 pounds, this "little" (I mean big!) guy came raging into the world on November 17 after only four hours of labor. FOUR HOURS people! I'll wait a moment while you clap! Yes, very well done baby Brave. He is a beautiful, healthy, strong baby. We are beyond excited, and in our adrenaline-rushed minds, the exhaustion of having a newborn is a long ways off. So we're enjoying the high while it lasts! Here are a few pictures taken in the first few weeks of his sweet little life.

Baby toes... they are just fabulous.

Truitt is the absolute BEST at being a new big brother! He couldn't love Brave more if he tried. Literally... with every touch, his excitement is begging to be unleashed, until we have to remind him to be a little more gentle with the baby. He loves him with force!

Waiting...

I am waiting.

Waiting for my son, baby boy #2, to make his way into this world. His mama, daddy, and big brother are all waiting for him excitedly, but that fact doesn't seem to motivate him to budge.

Aren't we all waiting for something?

Graduation. Marriage. College. Dream career. Next vacation. Pregnancy. There are so many things to wait for and anticipate.

That beautiful Holy Spirit put a song in my head today. He reminded me that we can have PEACE while we are waiting. We can have HOPE. We can ask for PATIENCE. We can be FAITHFUL. All while we're waiting, we can serve the One who gave us the gift we're waiting for in the first place. We can serve Him, worship Him, and while we are waiting, we can continue running the race and not even faint.

Isn't Life just one big waiting room anyway? I don't know about you, but I can't wait to get to the perfection of Heaven, where every tear will be wiped away, where there will be no more death or mourning or pain, and where the old way of things will pass away. This is what I'm truly waiting for. I can guarantee that once we get there, there will be no more of this "waiting thing" ever again.

Listen to the song "While I'm Waiting" by Jason Waller if you get a moment today. It's beautiful and reminds me of truth in the midst of the wait.

[Thank you to Rebecca Keizer Studios, who happens to be our cousin, for this lovely shot!]
